HOLIDAY EVENTS FOR MISSISSAUGA KIDS
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around Mississauga! Holiday events for Mississauga Kids are popping up and Santa is arriving in Mississauga to greet excited girls and boys who have been making their wish lists.
As we all get excited to get together with family, hang our stockings and bake delicious treats, it is also important to remember those who have a hard time during the holidays and look for ways to give back. There are many Christmas Food and Toy Drives happening around Mississauga and we encourage you to give back if you can and help Peel Region families have a merrier Christmas.
Two of our favourite holiday things including shopping at local Mississauga holiday craft shows and attending the Light Up The Square event which is happening on November 21 this year from 5pm to 9pm. Light Up The Square is an awesome family event that involves the official lighting of the Square Christmas tree, musical performances, kid zone filled with fun and yummy food trucks too.

MISSISSAUGA DANCE STUDIOS
Mississauga Dance Studios can be found in all parts of the city. When finding the right dance class for your child, consider the hours and registration fees, room for growth in the program and what type of dance programs are offered - ballet, jazz, tap, acro, lyrical, etc.
Use this list to help you find the type of dance studio you are looking and when their registration takes place. Some studios operate three terms per year while others run from September straight through until June.
Several dance studios offer boys only hip hop classes and parent and tot introduction to dance classes. Dance is a great way for kids to learn about movement, to be active and to gain appreciation for discipline and hard work.

President Barak Obama Reads "Where the Wild Things Are"
Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things are was my little brother's favorite book. When my son was born his Uncle gave him a copy. It became one of my son's favorite books. It was wonderful to see President Obama read this children's classic with such enthusiasm!

Mississauga Summer Camp at Star Academy.
Summer camp can be a great way for a Mississauga Kids to spend their summer days.
With the long summer break, from the last day of school to the beginning of September, parents often search for ways to occupy their child’s day and at the same time try to find programmes that will benefit them and provide great learning opportunities. Parents need to evaluate their child’s needs and determine what type of programme will continue to support their child in their development.
Despite all the fun of summer, many students struggle to remember their academic skills when September rolls around and that transition back to school can be difficult. Finding a camp that carries the excitement of adventure and at the same time incorporates core academics in a subtle way can be the best solution.
Summer Showtime is a unique summer programme that accomplishes just that. Designed to excite children about learning in a camp atmosphere, the past 12 years have proven that learning can be fun!
Yes, camp is a great way for children to spend their summer and Summer Showtime is just the place. For more information contact Pam Rennie 905-891-1555 or summer@staracademy.ca

Mississauga March Break 2009 - Day 2
It's a beautiful day in the neighbourhood! (How many of us still hum that Mr. Roger's tune?) We may not be in the sunny Caribbean but Mississauga Kids are experiencing some delightful weather so far! Did you know you can always get the latest forecast for Mississauga Weather right on our main Mississauga Kids website? Just check the upper right hand corner of the page!
Why not get the kids out doors for a bit of fun this morning! From 10 to 10:45 the Mississauga Fire Department will have trucks out a the Central Library at Square One for the kids to check out. I'm guessing they may be giving out some fire safety coloring books too while supplies last. Enjoy the trucks then head inside to wonder the stacks. Hmmm wonder if the librarian could help you find a book on firetucks or firemen?
Don't forget today is St. Patrick's Day! Everyone gets to be Irish today! Just wear a bit of green and a smile on you face!

Mississauga Kids to Enjoy the March Break Holiday!
In just 20 days Mississauga schools will be beginning their traditional Spring Break holiday. Schools in Mississauga will be closed from Monday, March 16 thought Friday March 20 and will reopen on Monday March 23. Which begs the question... What are we going to do with the kids!
Some families use the time to get away together. Last year my family spent the week in Washington, D.C. touring important historical government sights and museums. We learned that "The Mall" is not a closed in Space where you shop but a big beautiful open space between all the wonderful Smithsonian Museums and many other points of interest.
Some families spend the week at the cottage or travel to a near by Resort. Wheel's Inn for example has some fantastic March Break deals and affords a bit of an escape from your Mississauga usual surroundings. Some families use the time to visit other family members wherever they may be.
If your not traveling though you have to wonder... What am I going to do with the kids? Some parents still need to work during March Break. If this is your situation you should know their are plenty of March Break Camps in Mississauga. Kids can go to sports camps, academic camps, drama camps, the list is endless. Their are full day and half day camps available as well.
For more about the March Break Camps available in Mississauga check the Mississauga Kids Website!
Next week I'll be posting information on programs available to kids and parents in Mississauga so stay tuned!
