Tickets are now on sale for our Family Day Extravaganza and we'd love to have you join us! Mississauga also has a few other events happening for Family Day and we hope you are able to enjoy the date with those you love.

And also creeping up is March Break!  This round up of March Break camps and activities in Mississauga is really helpful for planning the week.  For most kids, 2016 March Break will run from Monday, March 14th until Friday, March 20th.  Keep connected with the Mississauga Kids Facebook page for more ideas on March Break fun as we get closer to March.

Winter seems to be passing quickly this year...hopefully we still feel that way in March and will start to see some signs of Spring!

HOLIDAY EVENTS FOR MISSISSAUGA KIDS

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around Mississauga!  Holiday events for Mississauga Kids are popping up and Santa is arriving in Mississauga to greet excited girls and boys who have been making their wish lists.

As we all get excited to get together with family, hang our stockings and bake delicious treats, it is also important to remember those who have a hard time during the holidays and look for ways to give back.  There are many Christmas Food and Toy Drives happening around Mississauga and we encourage you to give back if you can and help Peel Region families have a merrier Christmas.

Two of our favourite holiday things including shopping at local Mississauga holiday craft shows and attending the Light Up The Square event which is happening on November 21 this year from 5pm to 9pm.  Light Up The Square is an awesome family event that involves the official lighting of the Square Christmas tree, musical performances, kid zone filled with fun and yummy food trucks too.

What are your favourite holiday traditions around Mississauaga?

MISSISSAUGA TUTORS

Looking for a tutor to help your child?  Mississauga tutors offer a wide range of options including tutors that come to your home, centre based tutors or tutors that are specialists in a certain subject such as math, English or french.

Trying to help your own child with their homework is sometimes not the best mix.  A third party, like a tutor, can work with your child and help them achieve their academic goals.  Tutors in Mississauga can be hired at any point during the school year.  If you are looking for additional information for Mississauga Kids (like where to find a great dance studio), view the Northwest Mississauga or South Mississauga Back To School guides.

MISSISSAUGA DANCE STUDIOS

Mississauga Dance Studios can be found in all parts of the city.  When finding the right dance class for your child, consider the hours and registration fees, room for growth in the program and what type of dance programs are offered - ballet, jazz, tap, acro, lyrical, etc.

Use this list to help you find the type of dance studio you are looking and when their registration takes place.  Some studios operate three terms per year while others run from September straight through until June.

Several dance studios offer boys only hip hop classes and parent and tot introduction to dance classes. Dance is a great way for kids to learn about movement, to be active and to gain appreciation for discipline and hard work.

CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES IN MISSISSAUGA

SantaChristmas cheer fills Mississauga every year with fun holiday activities for families. As we roll into winter, the kids look forward to spending time at special events with their loved ones. The holidays bring warm celebrations with Santa, holiday shows, religious services and lots of fun and games! Winter snow invites us to bear the cold and hit the slopes or outdoor rink, make a snow man, and delight in the white fluffy coating that brightens the chilly night.

We look forward to sharing special time with the people dearest to us, bonding over the good cheer. Some of our neighbours may not celebrate Christmas, or any holiday tradition, but it is important to be respectful of everyone’s beliefs and welcome them to share in your cheer. This is also a good time to teach your children about values like compassion, giving and sharing. As always, we’ve found plenty going on as early as November.

TORONTO BLUE JAYS PEANUT/NUT-REDUCED ZONE

The Toronto Blue Jays are offering a peanut/nut-reduced seating area at certain games for their 2014 season, as allergies are becoming increasingly prevalent. There is no cure, so avoidance of the allergenic food is the only way to steer clear of an allergic reaction. Taking your children out to a crowded public space can be frightening and dangerous for those who risk severe reactions. Fortunately, the Toronto Blue Jays want to give all families the opportunity to visit a Jays Game and stay safe this summer.

On six different game dates a limited number of seats are available in this designated area at the Rogers Centre, located in Section 204 of the 200 Level Outfield seating area. This area is signed off as the “Peanut/Nut-Reduced Zone”.

Peanuts and nuts will not be allowed in this reserved section for the following game dates:

  • Sunday, April 27, 2014 vs. Boston
  • Sunday, May 25, 2014 vs. Oakland
  • Sunday, June 29, 2014 vs. Chicago White Sox
  •  Sunday, July 20, 2014 vs. Texas
  • Sunday, August 24, 2014 vs. Tampa Bay
  • Sunday, September 14, 2014 vs. Tampa Bay
